Heirloom Quilts

Did Grandma leave you boxes of unfinished quilt pieces? Let me finish them and turn them into the family heirlooms they were intended to be.

For this bed ruffle we used pieces that the client's mother had cut 70 years ago for a double wedding ring quilt.

T-Shirt Quilts

What can you do with all those memorable, yet unwearable t-shirts? How about a custom t-shirt quilt?

Keep it simple with the traditional “nine-patch style” where all shirts are cut into equal sized squares or rectangles.

T-shirt quilts make wonderful graduation gifts!

This client provided home made tie-dyed garments to use as the border for this quilt. For the backing fabric we used a sheet from the client's childhood bed. So this high school graduation present allowed her to carry the comfort of childhood with her to college.

We can create a more organic look by cutting all the shirts into different sizes and using t-shirt scraps to fill in for a "crazy quilt-like" effect.

This was the first custom t-shirt quilt I ever made. The t-shirts and backing fabric arrived at my house one day by mail out of the blue with a lovely thank you card saying "You are an angel, my daughter has been wanting a quilt since she graduated high school and its now half way through [her] junior year [in college]. Name your price and we'll send you a check. Thanks for your willingness to make my daughter's quilt". After some detective work I figured out that one of my dear college roommates had mentioned to an aunt that I liked to quilt. Boy am I glad she did!
